The cosmological argument depends on the idea that our cosmos, our universe is contingent thus depending on something else for its existence. Through deductive reasoning, this argument shows that there must be a first cause. This first cause cannot have a beginning, needs to be powerful and has to be outside the universe itself. Christians will right away point at the God of the Bible, while others may say it is a different deity. But what is this argument? How does it work? We will look at two variants: the 'Cosmological Argument From Contingency' and the 'Kalam Cosmological Argument'.
