Humans are created in His image and as\nsuch we are wonderful creatures. Strangely enough, this was not\nenough for us, and we defied Him on purpose. This is not only visible\ntoday but also in the past. Even in the last century we have seen\nhorrible examples of this happening. \n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">\nThis was just last century\u2026 But 1900 till 2000 wasn\u2019t the only\ntimespan in our human history. The Bible recorded much of the history\neven before the birth of Jesus.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">We\nwere thinking about the world wars as terrible right? Yes, they were\nhorrible. The things that happened in those wars are hard to grasp.\nAnd what to think about the many atrocities\nin other years. Still, it seems God didn\u2019t send punishment. Some\nwould even say He didn\u2019t do anything. I would like to beg the\ndifference, but that is a different topic.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">Now,\ngo back in time. No, not to the birthdate of your dog but even\nfurther\u2026 We\u2019re talking about the time of the Pharaohs.\nLet\u2019s say about 3400 years ago. The time when Israel was delivered\nfrom Egypt and entered the promised land. The promised land, known as\nCanaan, was completely defiled with the most horrible things you can\nimagine. \n<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n    <li>Child\n    sacrifice was the norm. I am not talking about just killing the\n    child quickly and that\u2019s\n    it. No, it was more gruesome than that. Let\u2019s not go there, shall\n    we.\n    <li>\n    Then, the Canaan culture was absorbed with sexual perversion in its\n    most filthy way you can imagine.\n    <li>Murder,\n    rape, brutality, corruption were\n    the norm.\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"\">\nThe Canaanites had been warned but didn\u2019t do anything to change it.\nGod gave them 400 years!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">This\nwas one of these moment where we can read that God was fed up with\nall the wickedness. He instructed Joshua to stop this wickedness. He\ndid so by commanding to kill the people and as a result sending them\nto the highest court to be\njudged. \n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">Now,\nthis is one example of, what we would call genocide. These times were\nrare and do show us that we should not think we can mess around with\nGod for ever. However, These\nfew examples in the Bible also remember us that God shows mercy, even\nin times of judgement. \n<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n    <li>Firstly,\n    God\u2019s\n    judgement prevented the nation form defiling generation after\n    generation. It stopped the perpetual evil-doing.\n    <li>Secondly,\n    we see that God rescued people from judgement, even at the last\n    moment. Think of the prostitute Rahab in Joshua chapter 2 and 6. She\n    repented and helped God\u2019s people. She and her family were spared.\n    Rahab was even\n    to become\n    an ancestor of the ultimate Saviour, Jesus Christ.\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"\">Rahab\nrepented and trusted God and became the great, great, great , great\ngrandma of Jesus Who Himself is the biggest\nrescuer of people in all times. People who are sorry for their sin,\ntheir evil-doing can put their Trust in Him.
