It is more accurate to\r\nsay it is our sin that causes wars. In many cases it is about greed,\r\nlust, power, and tyranny. Even when a country goes to war to bring\r\nabout peace, we can say the whole incident started because of the\r\nsinful nature of humanity.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>However, many would\r\nsay that religion is number one in starting wars. And yes, there have\r\nbeen religious wars. Some religions even teach that it is legitimate\r\nto spread their ideas by the sword. This can not been said about\r\nChristianity. \r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Remember the moment\r\nJesus was captured? Peter decided to chop of the ear of the servant\r\nof the high priest. What did Jesus say? Yeah! Way to go Peter! No,\r\ninstead he healed the man\u2019s ear and rebuked Peter. Do you ever had\r\nthat idea that you can\u2019t do anything right? I think Peter must have\r\nfelt like that, poor guy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Jesus told us to\r\nlove our neighbour as ourselves. Doesn\u2019t sound much like a war cry\r\ndoes it? Still, there were wars or battles in the name of Jesus. I do\r\nnot know your name but let\u2019s say your name is Joe. Why I choose\r\nthis name? I don\u2019t know, it just popped to mind. Anyway, you always\r\ntold people to love one another and to be peaceful\u2026 That\u2019s you\r\nright? But when I go on drop some bombs in a building and shout\r\nloudly: THIS I DO IN THE NAME OF JOE! Can you be blamed for my\r\nactions? Actually! No. Neither can you do with Jesus. He never urged\r\nus to go to battle, to kill people, to throw bombs. \r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Hold on a minute!\r\nSome of you are thinking about the Old Testament. There you\u2019ll find\r\nsome commands to go to battle right? Yes, I actually discussed the\r\nso-called genocide in a previous video. Many forget however that God\r\nintended the Jewish people to be a light for the world. Sure, they\r\nwere commanded to conquer Canaan but after that they were not allowed\r\nto conquer any other country. No, they were commanded to show love\r\nand compassion to the widows, orphans and strangers. They had to\r\noffer asylum to the slaves that fled their owners, even when they\r\ncame all the way from other countries. Isaiah 43:21 says the\r\nfollowing: \u201cThe people whom I formed for Myself Will declare My\r\npraise.\u201d and Isaiah 49:6b \u201cI will also make You a light of the\r\nnations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.\u201d\r\nAfter conquering Canaan, Israel mostly fought defensive wars.\r\nDefensive wars are a totally different topic which I will not discuss\r\nnow.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Now, I could go into\r\na rant about other ideologies that caused more deaths, just in the\r\nlast century, than you can ever imagine. I will constrain myself and\r\njust point you to a link in the description of this video.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>So, back to Jesus\u2019\r\nteachings. He told His followers to love the people to the same\r\ndecree they love themselves. The followers of Jesus even have to love\r\ntheir enemies. That sounds impossible but Jesus also promised us that\r\nHe will give the strength to obey His rules. 2 Timothy 1:7 <i>\u201cFor\r\nGod hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,\r\nand of a sound mind.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Don\u2019t\r\nbe afraid to put your trust in Jesus! The\r\napostle Peter said that <i>salvation can be found in no\r\none else. Throughout the whole world, no other name has been given\r\namong humans through which we must be saved.<\/i> Looking forward to\r\nliving in a world without war? It\u2019s gonna be awhile before that\r\nwill happen, or maybe not. In any case this assurance has been given\r\nby Jesus to those who put their trust in Him.
